Spring, or is it Summer, is Here!

Dear Neighbours,

Yes, looks like spring has arrived in full force and it is now more like summer. Here are a few events and activities that you may be interested in attending, supporting or participating in:

1. Kingston Transit Service Review

Community input will help shape the Transit Service Plan for the next five years. Your feedback is important so please complete the online survey as soon as you can. Closes May 27th, 2016.

2. M-Centre Playground and Victoria Park

If you are wondering what is going on with these two Williamsville park upgrades, here is an update from the city.

They hope to meet with the community in late June on both the Memorial Centre playground expansion and the Third Avenue Park playground renovation. The concept plans are coming together well. They should be able to provide a more firm date soon.

The Victoria Park renovation project is at the contractor selection phase. It is a very complicated project, taking much more time than anticipated, and the community is thanked for its patience. If all goes according to plan, construction should start late summer/early fall. Updates will be provided when available.

3. M-Centre Market

After a successful indoor winter market, the MCFM moved outside on May 8th for the season. The market has increased in size and scope with new vendors in both crafts and food including a couple of bakeries, a cider company and a chocolatier!

Over the season many fun and food events are planned including Local Food Week, The Zucchini 500, Picnic in the Park and the Burger Bash. Regular features such as yoga classes, live music, cooking demos and the kid’s tent are up and running. Please visit their Facebook page for details of what is happening each week. Official opening is during local food week June 12th.
